1 What is ITBP?
ITBP (Integrated Transcription factor Binding sites Platform) is an integrated platform for analyzing transcription factor binding sites. It consists of three basic modules: BSViewer, BSMiner and BSSearcher. BSViewer allows users to explore records from our transcription factor binding sites database. BSMiner serves users as a data mining tool to identify putative transcription factor binding sites from input promoter sequences. BSSearcher provides various advanced query options for database search.

2 Why does BSMiner alerts "Your sequence contains unrecognized characters..."?
Any files uploaded into the system must be a flat text file. For example MSWord files are not acceptable and must be formatted into text file before submission. They can be easily converted to plain text file by choosing the menu as follows: "File"-->"Save As"-->"Save As Type"-->"Flat Text' (*.txt)". Users must submit sequence file in FASTA format, like the following example:
>B00002
ACCCTTTAAGAGCCGAAACCTTT...

3 What is confidential level and how do I specify it?
In order to assign SVM output with probability, we define confidence level to measure the likelihood that the test data actually turns out as a positive. It is a continuous measure varying from 0 to 1 exclusively. It can be specified by users to balance between sensitivity and specificity for SVM outputs. Typically, the smaller the confidence value, the higher the sensitivity.
